All our people are committed to making a difference to the people of Norfolk. To find out what it’s like to work at Norfolk County Council and to live in the county of Norfolk, hear directly from our Leadership Team, Team Managers and Social Workers.
Hi, I’m James, I joined Norfolk County Council in January last year as Executive Director of Adult Social Services. Previously, I was with Essex County Council as Director of Adult Operations.
I also represent the County Council as national Director Lead for Social Care and Justice for the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) and I am the regional ADASS chair for the Eastern Region.
Now working back in my home county, I am excited to lead a service that will improve the lives of vulnerable adults in the county. I’m passionate about developing and transforming services to really connect with the communities we serve. To achieve this the focus will be on forging stronger links with our health partners to support people to be as independent as they want to be.
I’m introducing a new approach in Norfolk, the Partners4Change Three Conversations Model which is receiving national recognition as an innovative response to the challenges facing the sector. It will create a new relationship between professionals and people who need support, a strength based approach that wraps care around the person and empowers our people to make the right decisions.
We are currently investing in our frontline services and keen to hear from passionate Team Managers and Social Workers who will take us on our new journey and deliver the very best service to the people of Norfolk.
Norfolk has been my home for twenty-two years and my favourite pastimes include making music and rock climbing. I also love walking with my family on Winterton beach. The city of Norwich is a vibrant place to live and I’m inspired by the arts and culture the city has to offer – I can often be seen mooching around the Book Hive for some inspiring literature.
So, if you would like to lead or be part of a team that embraces change, to continually improve the way we deliver adult social services, then please get in touch.
On behalf of my colleagues, we look forward to hearing from you.
James Bullion, Executive Director of Adult Social Services
