Seeing the difference
Everyone wants to see the difference when changes are made to help people live well.
At Norfolk County Council, seeing the difference makes our day in Adult Social Services. Sometimes social work is hard going. And we all know you can’t build Rome in a day. But when plans come together and changes are made for the better, for the adults we support and their families, that’s when everyone can see the difference. And it’s always incredibly satisfying to know that the work we’ve done has changed resident’s lives.
Find out more from Donna, Maxine and Beattie.
Beattie has learning disabilities, autism and epilepsy. She was supported through school and college and then got to an age when she wanted to move out of the family home and learn to live independently. Help and support from Assistant Practitioner, Donna, in Adult Social Services were needed to make this dream come true.
Beattie’s Mum, Maxine, is over the moon with the difference to their lives. ‘You can only be as happy as your least happy child.’ And when changes have ben made to mean your child is living well, it makes a huge difference. Beattie is really happy to be independent and forging ahead with her life. Assistant Practitioner Donna is delighted that her support has changed both Beattie’s and her parent’s lives.
